September 2007, after a 2 year absence, Ging Chinese Restaurant made a welcome return to Chapel Street. Formerly known as Ging Wah, and owned and operated by Ken Liang and his family from 1966, this Melbourne Institution has undergone a dramatic face lift. The decor is modern and edgy and the menu is a combination of old favourites and great new dishes. Henry and Soo have returned and are dispensing their renowned warmth and hospitality.
Ken Liang came to Australia in the 60's leaving his family behind in Hongkong. He did whatever he could to establish a home and business in Australia. In 1966 he set up the Ging Wah Restaurant in this location and sent for his family. Ken and Jan worked long hours and won the hearts of the Chapel Street locals. They have now retired and the rest is history.
